MS STORIES

Marion Juma, MS Warrior

Episode 1
Nowadays the world has spoiled, a young girl is drunk every day, and we recently held a graduation party, not so long ago  . Since the tuberculosis (TB) drugs are clearly not working, I head to Nairobi Hospital, I meet Prof Amayo. A few tests then he breaks the news, you may be having Multiple Sclerosis. A long silence then I ask “for shizzle??”  I remember in Marta Hospital the diagnosis was either TB or MS. I actually prayed for it to b MS, I don't need to take drugs for so long and Multiple sclerosis has  an English name. Can't be too bad  Pity on me  .
Prednisolone for a week or so, I felt so good. I had the strength to go to town alone. I was working for BAT no pay end month, yet I am a lawyer  . Small correction, my BAT was not British American tobacco   but Being Around Town, the job of searching for a jo, dropping several CVs with a standard answer (we'll get back to you)   you would rather just get a stamp of “received” and a smile. I will be on my way. No lies nah! Most places when I find a male receptionist, madam you look like a drunkard, you can share the drink we celebrate together. I give out a weak smile with the best part being nobody can open my head to see how many insults I receive for this daily. With all this my education   ,When it gets to 2 o'clock I leave BAT and go to KTN (one day, I Will reveal what KTN actually means, in my own vocabulary) Good day

Episode 2
Remember, morning hours, BAT, in the afternoon, I enter KTN from 2- 5   This company employs everybody, I just wasn't lucky to bump into good managers at the HR offices, doors were always locked.
KTN-; Kenya Tarmacking Network was the company. So I picked high end locations, because I had papers and a suit, I saw no problem, being let in. At the reception I always spoke the Queen's language, hoping some 1 would listen to me. I always smiled or maybe over smiled expecting some good news.
Excuse me, where are the ladies? Can I please use the ramp, I really don't like escalators or lifts.   (Please rem am in the high-end side of town). So, I get up and start walking in Italics. Excuse me madam, we don't allow drunk clientele to roam all over our offices. No madam, I am unwell. Really, show your ID? sorry madam, I must have exchanged my bag. not sure I have it, but I am unwell! Sorry most clients use our rest rooms to drink and take drugs? So I ask her, please smell my breath ,I want to cry, I force myself  to throw up.. I was quickly ushered in to the rest room. I gladly let myself loose. At least the toilets were clean, unlike other places where the smell chases the pee away, (Forgive my language). After coming back, I actually explained the disease and some believed me, others never heard about this kind of disease before.
fake it until you make it MS said to me.
